Ambode : NBA Epe thanks Lagos assembly for stopping impeachment process, cautions against reoccurrence

The Nigerian bar association (NBA), Epe branch has thanked the Lagos state house of assembly under the leadership of Hon. Mudashiru Obasa for halting the impeachment plans of the executive governor of Lagos state, Akinwummi Ambode after he was alleged to have spent funds not approved by the house.

The impeachment threats which started few weeks ago has put Governor Akinwummi Ambode in the face of travails and has caused mixed feelings among the supporters of the governor and several observers. It is worthy of being noted that shortly after the clamour for the impeachment began in the house, there was protests which locked the streets of Lagos down against the impeachment of the governor.

However, on Sunday, 3rd of February, 2018, reports making rounds had it that the National Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) had waded in and the controversies has been resolved.

Following this, a statement from the Nigerian Bar Association Epe was released to thank the National leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Speaker of the house of assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, other APC stalwarts for their timely intervention to save the governor from impeachment and warned against same issue coming up again, else, a legal redress in a court of competent jurisdiction will be sought

‘’Though we believe that a permanent solution has been found to the issues leading to the threat of impeachment, NBA Epe would want to categorically state that while it appreciates the fact that this is not a temporary measure or a political settlement, it will not waste time in seeking legal redress in a court of competent jurisdiction of the issue arises again’’.

Furthermore, NBA called the notice of the Lagos state house of assembly to address the conflict in section 122 of the constitution of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended)

‘’If the appropriation bill in respect of any financial year has not been passed into law by the beginning of the financial year, the governor may authorize the withdrawal of moneys from the consolidated revenue fund for the purpose of meeting expenditure necessary to carry on the services of the government for a period not exceeding six months or until the coming into operation of the law, whichever is earlier’’

and section 22 of the Finance (Control and Management) law of Lagos state with respect to how the governor can spend part of the appropriation bill before same is passed into law by the house of assembly.

Re: THE QUEST FOR PEACE IN IDUMUJE-UGBOKO, MY PERSPECTIVE By Dr. Gabriel Ifeanyi Ogbechie.

Our attention has been drawn to a publication, here-above referred, by Gabriel Ifeanyi Ogbechie published in Vanguard online of May 21, 2020. At best, his article may generously be termed his role in the Idumuje-Ugboko crisis otherwise it is a mere tale to ingratiate and celebrate himself and his perceived role in the fratricidal crisis. IS GABRIEL AN IMPARTIAL ARBITER? No question, when history opens the pages of this crisis for generations to come, they will surely squint with acute concern because Ogbechie's role will loudly be tainted with cruel miscarriage of justice. Certainly not a stainless umpire or arbiter. On the surface, the flow of his thoughts and presentation may hold the uninformed and innocent readers captive and thus persuaded to believe that Ogbechie, who also hails from our dear Idumuje-Ugboko Kingdom did not stand aloof over the three to four years of our intense crisis. Indeed, Ogbechie didn't stand aloof. He enunciated his meeting...

FUNKE ASHEKUN: THE RANTING OF A CONFUSED LOST SHEEP

Woe unto those who think they can wake up one morning and decide to trouble the kingdom of God with unfounded and overcooked lies and lack of knowledge.  My name is Femi, and I am an investigative journalist on a mission for the kingdom. I will start with a scripture before I go into the unveiling of the moment.   Acts 3:3-4 KJV:   And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. …   THE HYPNOSIS FUNKE ASHEKUN if you are a true believer and one who understands the mystery of deliverance, you will never speak about the GOs eye contact with you as hypnosis, because its either you don’t know the level of the anointing that the GO of the church carries, or you are completely ignorant of the power within the ministry. The scripture above depicts how Peter healed the cripple at the beautiful gate by asking him to look at him, you may try to look for the meaning of the words FASTENING HIS EYES UPON HIM.   So, was it t...
